"My predictions for the literary world in 2012 center on directional change rather than wildly radical new introductions to the cultural conversation; chiefly, innovation will continue to happen at the fringes, and big institutions at the center will pick and choose the elements that succeed, and incorporate them into their brands. I used to expect that the exciting things would come down from on high, but now I realize that the sleek, small, seemingly innocuous upstarts have the true capacity to effect seismic change."
