About

We are a nonprofit bookstore, cafe, and event space in downtown NYC. All proceeds from every show you attend and everything you buy, down to a record and a PBR, go directly to our mission of fighting AIDS and homelessness. 126 Crosby Street, NYC

Down in the Hole panel with Joy, Sean, and Tucker last night. Thanks to powerHouse Books, we’ve got signed copies of Down in the Hole, a Dickensian The Wire, available at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe for half off cover price! Come and get ‘em.
We’ve got lots of good stuff from recent launches, in fact, and brand-new books (I’m very defensive sometimes when people think we only have used books, we actually have lots of new books that are donated from reviewers, publishers, and more) including:
Suri’s Burn Book (thanks Running Press!),
F*ck! I’m in My Twenties (thanks Chronicle!),
Will Oldham on Bonnie “Prince” Billy (thanks WW Norton!),
Hacking the Future (thanks The Overlook Press!);
plus for upcoming book clubs, we have brand-new copies of International Crime Book Group’s pick, The Boy in the Suitcase (thanks Soho Crime!) and for
The Innocents Abroad travel-writing book group, Paris, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down (thanks FSG!).
