On October 29, 2012, New York City faced what many consider the worst natural disaster in the city’s history at the hands of Hurricane Sandy. The storm severely impacted operations at 16 different Housing Works locations. In some cases, our sites had to be closed and residents evacuated. In total, disruption of operations and the evacuation cost Housing Works approximately $400,000 in emergency expenses and lost revenue. To a small, nonprofit organization like Housing Works, this loss is devastating.
In these difficult times, we must join together as a healing community and ask for your support. Please help Housing Works get back on its feet by making an online donation today.
Whether you give $5 or $5,000, every single dollar will help us as we reopen our doors and provide housing, medical treatment, and comprehensive care for homeless people living with HIV/AIDS. More than ever, these supportive services are needed for those who have been displaced or are struggling to recover from hurricane damage in places like Red Hook, Far Rockaway, and Staten Island.
On behalf of all the individuals and families Housing Works serves, we sincerely thank you.
